Windermere Foundation
If you’ve bought or sold a home through Windermere Real Estate, you’re a part of the Windermere Foundation, and you’ve made a positive difference in the lives of your neighbors in need.
Our Mission
For the past 24 years, the Windermere Foundation has donated a portion of the proceeds from every home purchased or sold towards supporting low-income and homeless families in our communities. What started in 1989 as a grassroots foundation serving families in need in Washington State, has grown to encompass ten states and has raised over $25 million for programs and organizations that provide shelter, clothing, children’s programs, emergency assistance, and other services to those who need our help the most.
Every Transaction Makes A Difference
Every time a Windermere sales associate sells a home, a portion of the commission goes to the Windermere Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1989. Each year, contributions from Windermere agents combined with donations from Windermere employees and community members, have allowed the Windermere Foundation to support non-profit agencies dedicated to helping homeless and low-income families.
Housing Is Our Business
Helping homeless and low-income families is a natural extension of our business. Non-profit agencies receiving Windermere Foundation dollars have furnished emergency and transitional housing, and subsidized costs for services such as employment counseling, placement and training, day care, scholarships, and much more.
Creating Opportunities For Low-Income And Homeless Children
A significant portion of Windermere Foundation dollars go toward programs that help children. Establishing and funding literacy programs, underwriting the costs of summer camp, and providing basic necessities such as new school shoes, socks, and underwear, are among the many projects that the Windermere Foundation supports. We believe that building a child’s self-esteem is an investment in our future.
Windermere Kids
The Windermere Kids program is a partnership between Windermere and 10 YMCAs throughout the Western U.S., providing after-school enrichment opportunities to low-income children. Windermere offices also connect with these sites volunteering throughout the year. Since the program began in 2006, it has continued to positively impact the after-school enrichment and child care needs of low-income families. The collaborative efforts of Windermere and the YMCA successfully created a program that provides broad impact while still allowing individual sites to respond to specific local needs.
